Getting Started

How do I record a presentation?

To record a presentation, simply tap the record button on the main screen. Make sure you've granted microphone permissions when prompted. You can record for up to 5 minutes. When you're done, tap the stop button to finish recording.

How does the analysis work?

After you stop recording, Cadence will automatically transcribe your speech and analyze it using AI. The analysis includes your pace, filler words, pauses, structure, clarity, and more. This typically takes 30-60 seconds depending on the length of your recording.

Do I need credits to use Cadence?

Yes, you need credits to run an analysis. Transcription is free, but each analysis costs 1 credit. You can purchase credits through the app's purchase screen, accessible from the profile menu.

Understanding Your Results

What does the overall rating mean?

The overall rating (1-10) is a comprehensive score based on multiple factors including pace, clarity, structure, delivery, and content quality. A score of 8+ indicates excellent performance, 6-7 is good, and below 6 suggests areas for improvement.

What is an optimal speaking pace?

Most effective presentations are delivered at 140-180 words per minute (WPM). This pace keeps the audience engaged without feeling rushed. Cadence will highlight if your pace is too slow (under 120 WPM) or too fast (over 200 WPM).

How can I reduce filler words?

Filler words like "um," "uh," and "like" are natural but can distract from your message. Cadence identifies all instances so you can practice pausing instead of using fillers. Aim for fewer than 3 filler words per minute.

Privacy & Data

Is my data private?

Yes! Your recordings and analysis history are stored locally on your device. Audio files are sent to our servers temporarily for processing and are immediately deleted from our servers after transcription and analysis. However, audio files sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription are retained by OpenAI for 30 days for abuse monitoring purposes, and OpenAI staff may access audio data for safety reviews. Audio files are not used to train OpenAI models. For more details, see our Privacy Policy and OpenAI's data usage policy.
